Welcome to the July installment of Solum’s Monthly Roundup, where you receive worthy updates on current publications and announcements from within Solum’s scope and surrounding circles. We hope to keep these installments brief, relevant, and curious for your mid-week review.
New Patronage Opportunities
Solum is a small-scale press, working to publish faith-based authors who write with enduring literary merit. We are compelled by this vision of excellence, where realities of God and the world are penned with skill, instead of being winnowed into cliches. The way is narrow, and not necessarily lucrative. And while we do not exist for financial gain, we also cannot be viable without financial support from our readers and widespread Solum community.
Because of this, we are inviting you to consider becoming a patron of Solum Press by exploring our paid subscription opportunities. They come in a variety of formats and pricing options, with a monthly price of only $5, like a cup of coffee. And they now grant you access to these brand new paid subscription features!
-Featured Guest Essays
Every other month, Solum will be featuring an essay from a well-regarded guest author from the literary community. These essays will be specifically commissioned for Solum and available to paid subscribers. The goal of these pieces is for our community to receive a message that enriches our spirits, imaginations, and storytelling. In a way, these guest essayists will act like a visiting lecturer or expert guest on a podcast.
-Monthly Book Giveaways
Every month, paid subscribers will be entered into a Solum book giveaway. That means every month you would have a high chance of winning a free gift to read yourself or to share with a loved one!
*Note: Once a winner is selected, their name will be removed from future drawings until the cycle is refreshed at the beginning of the following year.
-Monthly Paid Subscriber Workshops
We are elated to announce the release of a monthly paid subscriber workshop. If you’ve read one of our Consider This posts before, then you know each one ends with a reflection prompt. We will be shifting these posts to end with an original writing prompt that applies to a variety of mediums.
Both free and paid subscribers can view the prompt and engage with the idea presented. However, paid subscribers will be able to submit the pieces they create into our subscriber chat to be workshopped by fellow paid subscribers and our Solum masthead. This is a fantastic way to keep you steadfast in your personal writing process, while offering you thorough feedback from peers and professionals alike.
Solum Monthly Feature
Thank you all who submitted to July’s Solum Monthly Feature. We hope this rhythmic showcase provides you with an opportunity to revel in the craft of our community, and spurs you on to make and submit yourself. Each month there will be a new opportunity to participate in this collective endeavor of beauty & excellence.

Submit to the Next Solum Monthly Feature!
Solum is always accepting submissions for our future Solum Monthly Feature posts, such as the one you’re reading here. Each month there will be a new opportunity for one of your poems, short stories, essays, homilies, or visual art to be featured. Your piece will be followed by an artist statement, and if applicable, your Substack page will be invited to collaborate on the post.
The submission guidelines follow the same parameters as listed on our website here.
To be considered, please email emma.winchell@solumpress.com with your selected pieces, and include Solum Monthly Feature [Month] as the title of the email. We look forward to sharing your craft with our community!
